Everything on the menu is delicious, and the wine list is excellent. The service is professional and exceptionally personable. This is our favorite and most regular choice for dinner out in Old Town.
The food was a bit too salty for my liking. The beef fillet, bread, and the steamed clams were all salty. Other than the saltiness the tastes were good. The desserts were really good.
My husband and I thought we would try a fancier option for restaurant week date night and I’m not sure we could have picked a better option if we tried. It’s rare to find a place where every plate is good let alone excellent, and that’s exactly what we got with our three course meal. If these dishes aren’t straight from Italy they’re darn close. With free parking on all the nearby streets and a park by the water within walking distance, this is a great special occasion spot and worth every dollar. Thanks for such a great experience, can’t wait for next time!
A perfect 10. Prompt beyond reason; relaxed and delicious.
A very nice dinner experience.
outstanding long time area favorite; wonderful food & service; a gem!
I went to La Lucia restaurant while traveling in VA for work. It was hungry for some great Italian food and was not disappointed! The food and atmosphere were great! I had the linguine and there pizza. Excellent pizza and great crust. Thanks for the free ice cream too!
We dined with 2 small children and it had a great kid menu. The service was great & street parking was easy. Of course , the food was great!!
I love this place. I had been going here for years and actually they have incredible food and unique options. I don't think I've ever been disappointed with anything I've gotten here. Plus they treat customers so well.
I just happened upon A La Lucia and it provides a really nice dining experience. I would give it 4.5 stars and it may be a five star for most that visit (I just keep 5 stars for exceptional, more one of a kind dining experiences).First, you will be met at the door by a very engaging and gregarious hostess
Lot of homemade pasta and sauce. I overheard the owner talking to some customers about how he eats fish everyday and gets in-season fresh fish for the restaurant. He was happily offering samplers from vegetable dishes. Sounded like a genuine person interested in offering honest good food.
My Wife and I stopped in for some Italian food. We ordered and was served promptly. The chef came out to talk to us as we had some questions on how the food was made. We were hoping that the food was not too spicy. The Chef said that the food was spicy and that he would not add any additional spice. I ordered a Rigatoni dish with crumbled Italian sausage in it that was advertised in the menu as spicy sausage. My Wife ordered a dish with fusilli pasta in it and eggplant parmesan. We both felt that it was good and if you like spicy sauce you would really enjoy the food at this Restaraunt. I would come back and try something else as it was really good. Please tell me if you liked my review.
Super fast service. The meatballs were good but have had better. Pasta was excellent.
In between classes need a drink while finishing up homework. Basin has great music playing very relaxing atmosphere and clean by looking at he mason jar lamp. (No dust!!) They serve the beer in a very cold glass. I had the vegetarian frittata which is gluten free served with very delicious salad. I like it here and would come back next Saturday
Lovely pasta and desserts (especially the peach sorbet)! The decor is also beautiful.
Good American Italian food. Price points are on parr with neighborhood. Good lunch specials. Got the manicotti, eggplant rollitini and some wine. The bread was super good as well. I definitely will be back. Hospitality was good with active food runners
Very cold in the back room! The service was amazing. The food was pretty good too! I just wouldn't want to sit in the back room lol
Good food. Good service. Family friendly. Lots of regulars. Feels very homey.
Good food good wine. Unsuspecting quality for the outward appearance. Was busy on a week night. Suggest reservation.
Food is very good maybe 4 stars or more, service is very good right now, so I sorta have to give it 5 stars. Pretty pricey, so atmosphere and service make up for the rest. They could have a few more beers, didn't have anything special for beer snobs.
Nice Italian restaurant. It is a bit small and I recommend making reservations a head of time. I had their rigatoni pasta and enjoyed it. Their complementary bread was also very good!
I think of A La Lucia as a more upscale neighborhood Italian restaurant. It is located in a more residential area far off the King Street dining area. Their pastas are all good and I particularly like their red sauce. Another pretty big plus is they offer half sized pasta dishes at a very reasonable price and the portions are reasonable. A La Lucia has some decent wines which go well with the pasta. Service is not always consistent, but was fine on my most recent visit. It’s a nice get-a-way from the King street traffic.
Food was ok. Cocktails were better. Expected more for the prices. Restaurant was beautiful though and service was great.
Food is good but not amazing... I expected it to be better given the price point. The lasagna was good, but the ingredients were unbalanced, it was mostly meat sauce, the ricotta, pasta and anything else were an afterthought. The salad was slightly better than what you would get at a diner, add a few sprigs of endive and arugula. The stuffed special pasta was good, but nothing to brag about. The service was excellent at the beginning, but at the end of our meal we couldn't get the waiter's attention.
Great food at competitive prices for the area.
Nice romantic Italian atmosphere, furnishings and great service. Classy and elegant, lighting can be a little dim for those with trouble in low light. Food is authentic and delicious, would recommend for couples, adults, and adults with slightly older children.
Been going to this fantastic Italian restaurant for more than six years. The staff is always cordial and friendly. The food is fantastic (though the cocktails could use a little work). The atmosphere is always warm and welcoming. Also has a private back room if you want to host a party, always a plus.
This is an AMAZING hidden neighborhood gem! The food is so flavorful, the process are fair, and the service is good. You won't be disappointed!
I really enjoyed going to A La Lucia. They had really good food and the staff was very friendly. I really enjoyed their selection of cheeses, they were all very good and it was fun to get to try a small sample of several cheeses for a pretty good price. The building is nice and clean and well decorated. It's quiet and feels very quaint. I liked it a lot and will return every time that I near Alexandria.
The hubby brought me here for our Anniversary. What a beautiful place. The food was bella and the staff were very accommodating. I enjoyed the short walk to the water after for the Sunset. Thank you for sharing such a great moment.
First time there, Excellent Food and Service!
A place in Alexandria that serves excellent Italian food. Street parking only, seems to be spots near by.
"Food is delicious a little on the expensive side.Lots of choices and staff is very nice. The quaint decor and murmur of laughter and conversation makes it a great place to start your weekend as the service is excellent! Don't be deterred by the wait time, it's for a reason :)
I did enjoy everything, food service and peace.
Good place for a pre-theater dinner.
Brilliant real Italian food and excellent service, grazie!
Great place that the locals visit. and if your in town, give them some business. Pizza and service was amazing. I shall return again from Oregon.
Well worth the wait. After an amazing meal, take the short walk to the water to enjoy an amazing sunset for the perfect night cap.
This restaurant has first-rate service as well as tasty meals. One of my favourite spots in the area. The food served fast and the prices were affordable. I recommend this place.
Seems to be a nice neighborhood Italian restaurant in Old Town Alexandria. The atmosphere was casual and relaxed. My wife and I just didn't feel welcomed. We were treated fairly by our server, it just wasn't anything special. He was prompt and friendly when greeting other tables, but after a 10 minutes he came over and asked if we had any questions. Not sure what that was about. We were the only African Americans in the entire restaurant and the server didn't seem comfortable. It felt awkward. The only saving grace was that the food was really good and not expensive.
Love this place! They treat us like family. Food is great, wine is yummy. And service is stellar!!
What a find! Excellent staff, food and overall experience for my wife, daughter and I on our DC area vacation. WIll return.
One of our favorite local places that does everything on the menu well with exceptional and personal service.
